In case you are lost, I am talking about Parent Teacher Conferences.,

So Parent Teacher Conferences for Grade 6-8 are over a few minutes ago. Reports are that not many people showed up. I personally did not go there for reasons that you are all familiar with. I feel sorry for higher grade levels, your happy days are ending in less than 48 hours.

I would also like to quote Mrs. Julie Lindsay:

I am not a big fan of parent teacher conferences….but it is good to see smiling parents..why do the low achievers parents not show up?

For the record mot teachers endorsed my excellent behviour.

When do we get the test?

I am really getting angry about this. I am not sure about you if you are from other grades, but for us, Grade 7, math exams are not a very nice experience. We get really nice exams but with only one problem. WE DO NOT GET THEM! This has hapenned many times but I will tell you about todays experience. i walked into class today all prepared for the big unit test. But all I get is my teacher telling me for security reasons the test was delayed. Last time it was because of security reasons because they have to print the tests on the day so no one sees them. I mean I get it security is necessary. But this ain’t a top secret transmission from the MI6 to the CIA or something, is it? So you get the picture. Last time the test was delayed for two weeks. Let’s hope this time it actually does happen this Tuesday (even the space campers leave today anyway).

old school > NEW SCHOOL. Are our teachers too ‘old school’? Is our school too ‘old school’? March 17, 2008

Angry Teachers - The Riot

We have many teachers. Really, we have a lot of teachers. But the question remains, are we good enough? Are our teachers prepared enough to face what this century requires? I say yes. Most of our teachers have vast understanding of how to incorporate what is really technology, they use all possible means to convert whatever they can into a technologically advanced masterpiece. So in essence, we have the right level of educators; and for that matter students. We have adequate resources when it comes to hardware (I used adequate cause most of our hardware is loaded with Windows. I say Mac). But the true problem comes in software. Now the problem is divided into two halves:

  • We are not buying enough stuff (I will talk about this later). We need more software, and at least we need to update the software we have. We have Flash, great. But we have flash MX 2004, which is old OLD.
  • We are not being taught how to use the stuff we have. We have Premiere, we have Photoshop! We have.. We have.. GREAT! But students are not being taught. Now I may know how to use Premiere, but most people don’t. I am not talking about IB grads. I am talking about younger students, why dosen’t a sixth grader get the right to make a picture perfect movie (without iMovie)? Many sixth graders are capable of doing that better than some IB’s, why not give them the chance? It is not the IT department’s fault (we get too little lessons for anything). Who’s fault is is?

So you give us great set ups, now teach us how to use them??!

MYP only! Why C&S sucks March 3, 2008

OK so I have seven projects for C&S this year. Yes I should have seventy credits by the end of this year (I have done 30 so far). But I still have to address this issue. Today as most of you well know we had an extended homeroom to get our act together as far as C&S goes. So you know I am like sweet lets do it. But C&S is getting to rigid. We cannot take our ‘journals’ home which really sucks because like DAH we sort of need to work on them I mean like seriously because it will get ‘lost’. I mean seriously we are supposed to be senior school students. You know, WE ARE FREAKING OLD ENOUGH TO TAKE CARE OF OUR OWN STUFF. So you know all over I love C&S but it is really being too much. Yes it is more important than academics as far as I say. But please, please, do let us do it and actually enjoy it. Not do it because Mr. Hitchman says so. What do you think?

Notice: Due to the nature of this post, no identifying features will be presented.

Ok, so today I go to class, and I remember that I had to do this project with my partner. But unfortunately the last lesson when we had to work on it in the library, we were too busy with CnS. So we walk into class today and Voila. We find out that we have to work in class and we have none of the web research. So after we beg the teacher we get 35 minutes in the library to finish the project (just me and my partner). I wanted to write this from there but I did not have time. We were working like freaks on two different terminals trying to get the work done. We took 40 minutes to get it done, but we did.

And I hate this, so a call to all of you teachers. Quality over Time frame!
